Coherent and dissipative dynamics at quantum phase transitions
Davide Rossini – Università di Pisa / INFN
The recent experimental advances in the field of quantum simulation have enabled a wealth of amazing possibilities to study strongly correlated quantum systems in nonequilibrium conditions.
I will first give a brief overview of some open questions in the field and then present a general scaling theory for the equilibrium and out-of-equilibrium behavior of quantum many-body systems in proximity of quantum transitions of any order. In particular, I will highlight a nontrivial competition that may arise between the coherent dynamics at quantum transitions and the dissipative perturbations, which can be formalized through a dynamic scaling framework,
obtained by appropriately extending the equilibrium scaling laws.
