Digital imaging The transmitted x-ray pattern is recorded by a digital detector at discrete spatial intervals (pixels) and intensities are represented by digital values. Data Storage & Image Display- Digital images are stored in computer memory.- Digital imaging techniques allow for enhancement of details and efficient image processing. - Automatic pattern recognition is often possible.
+ Linear response ( film : restricted latitude ; over-exposure; under- exposure)
+ Digital image processing ? High spatial resolution
+ Efficient absorption of X-rays
+ No film treatment (Tdevelop~ minutes)
- Field-of-view mammography:18x24 cm2
